After a stupendous performance Rescube Robotics is heading back home

With the gala-dinner last evening and the symposium today the 2016 RoboCup World Championship has officially ended. During the last week Rescube Robotics has achieved the most amazing success of its short history. Let us see the details:

  • In the main competition, the RoboCup Rescue Robot League we were finally ranked 9th out of the 19 international teams – overtaking some very prestigious and experienced teams.
  • Besides the main competition there were six special contests organized for the teams mostly around some specific skills (i.e. dexterity, mapping, mobility etc.). We have participated at the competition for the outdoor transportation robots (Best Outdoor CarryBot) and we have won the 1st place with a strong advantage.
  • Much to our surprise we have won the RoboCup Design Award provided by the Japanese Flower Robotics one of main sponsors of RoboCup, thus recognizing our custom, ingenious and innovative solutions.

Quick news from the World Championship

As you may know, Rescube Robotics is competing at one of the world’s largest Robotics Championship, the RoboCup in Leipzig, Germany. The prestigous event hosts 3500 competitors from around 40 countries, in the Rescue Robot League there are 19 teams from South Korea to Mexico.

Our apologies for the rare news: even at the last time everyone tries to do his best to make our robot even more dexterous, clever and reliable. We don’t sleep much, but in exchange we are pretty happy each time we look at the scoreboard.

For the first time in ten years, the world championship of robots will be taking place in Germany again.

In the summer of 2016, Leipziger Messe will host the 20th RoboCup, the world championship of robots. The leading international robotics event takes place in a different country each year. It was last held in Germany in 2006, parallel to the soccer world championship, and delighted thousands of visitors in Bremen. “RoboCup is a fascinating event − participants demonstrate top scientific and technical achievements in an entertaining way,” says Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. “This event is just as interesting for experts as it is for the media and the audience. We are so pleased that our joint proposal with the German RoboCup National Committee, WorldSkills Germany, the Free State of Saxony, and the city of Leipzig has been a success. We would also like to thank the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, as well as our many supporters from business, science and media.”

Rescube Robotics @ European Researchers’ Night 2015

Last Friday we had a great chance to showcase our 2015 robot at Óbuda University at the event of European Researchers’ Night 2015. We climbed the stairs with our robot while the juice in our batteries lasted and some lucky ones had the chance to drive our robot all by themselves. We had a real great evening and are grateful to the organizers.

ResearchersNight2015

European Researchers’ Nights are annual events dedicated to popular science and fun learning. They are an opportunity to meet researchers, talk to them, and to find out what they really do for society, in interactive and engaging ways. This can be through hands-on experiments, science shows, learning activities for children, guided visits of research labs, science quizzes and more.
